the pages aHum-de-dum... What to say... MiM stands for Music is Math (my user name over at garageband.com). I've been fascinated by creating sound and music using "pure math" for a number of year. I first got to try this out writing assembly language programs for the Apple IIGS back in '87 for controlling its ensoniq synth chip. Several years ago i wrote some graphics programs for the PC and noticed that these would translate over to sound well (the programs blur/average a bitmap repetatively). I tried putting out the results as a sound file and here it is!
Actually my first submission here is a cut and paste job on another program for pitch shifting a wave file with the envelope of another wave file. Creating sound by mangling wave files that never were real life samples is a blast. I have written image to sound converters and a number of odd programs for modifying and generating samples. Fourier, graphics transforms, etc... Most of this has been done in Delphi 3 and waves are put out as microsoft cd wave files directly. Other interesting ideas for the future include some sort of neural net recognizer that can be hooked up to a mic for doing a midi based drum kit with pots and pans.
I don't want to get into the sound vs. music debate (I'm probably more sound than music). I said recently the following line when i was the artist of the week at a website: "Sometimes i feel less like a musician and more like a cross between an explorer and pastry chef". Well I hope you enjoy my submissions here and please send comments, It makes my day.

This is just a collection of odds and ends from various musical experiments over the last year since getting turned back on to things by garageband.com and iuma.com.
I'm currently working on several experimental music/audio/media projects. more details things progress.
Would like to do more experimental music, music software, and would love to do audio only games and other software / hardware for the blind... If you know how to write grants drop me a line.
